When the Libs go on about climate change, Covid, and health care they leave out the one issue that could have the biggest overall effect on those items; Meat and dairy consumption. If they really cared about those issues they would eliminate subsidies keeping unhealthy foods cheap and actually promote healthy eating. The USDA as an organization is tasked with two competing opposed agendas. One is to support agriculture. They are the group that decides which subsidies are handed out, largely based on which groups do the best lobbying. The meat and dairy lobbies have more money and power than any other lobbying group in the US. The other is research and provide guidelines for healthy eating and living for our country. Since there is no kale lobby the meat and dairy industry wield their influence on the USDA board that determines what will be considered the standard of healthy eating. They go against volumes of scientific studies that show the meat and dairy products to be bad for health. The latest USDA guidelines state that our diet should try to avoid and dietary cholesterol, yet they promote eating eggs and chicken, two of the highest cholesterol foods out there. They leave the real dietary info vague and confusing, then make recommendations of what food to eat based on the input of big AG industry placed board members.

That being said, the list of comorbidities that make Covid deadly are mostly caused from bad diets. The single biggest thing we could do as a country to increase the healthy immune system function of our people to be able to handle a Covid pandemic, reduce environmental impact, and reduce health care costs is to get people eating better.

I know this would never actually happen because most people will not change their eating habits and big AG will not go down without a fight. However, until I see politicians, on both sides, being honest about this issue, I call bs on their intentions. They are only making "changes" that will benefit their donors and swamp creatures and passing it off as good for the people.

If it was reported on by the MSM as much as an out of context or misquoted tweet then they may actually hear about it to create outrage.

There are subsidized "foods" that are far more unhealthy than Meat and Dairy. Soy and high fructose corn syrup for starters. Soy is DEFINITELY no good for the boys.

My wife and I were watching TV last night and of course every other ad is for some sort of medication that IS worse than whatever symptom one is feeling, but I digress... we were talking about rampant food and environmental allergies today. When I was a kid, I didn't know a single person that was lactose intolerant, had issues with gluten, allergic to peanuts, or had some sort of "auto-immune" issue. Today... Ho Lee Fuk!!! Seems like 75% of the population is allergic to something, has some sort of "sensitivity" or has an auto-immune issue.

Is it environmental, is it the foods we eat, is it GMO's, is it our lifestyles, all the above, etc...? That's the million dollar question.

We've been eating meat for millennia and it's only been for the last 30-40 years that these health related issues have been massively spiking.

Or is it that in the past we didn't know what it was, it was just "he has a delicate constitution", and then they got sick and died?  Not sayin', just sayin'.

Could be that too. Or not. Before we knew what diabetes was you KNOW it claimed a lot of lives. And another thing, nobody is allowed to die of old age anymore. Could be 105 and they are going to attach something to it. Congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, something...  It can't ever be that they were 105 and it was their time.

Your post is filled with so many falsehoods I don't know where to start. First, soy does not contain estrogen. It contains phytoestrogen, which actual blocks estrogen reception. Years ago some meat head locked on to the estrogen part of that word and started the false info. Second, for the balance of human life we have been more gatherers than hunters. The fossils and bones of paleo people when analyzed have nutrient levels that support the majority of their diets being from plants. Also, in fossils that show higher level of meat consumption they have found the same artery plaque build up as we see today. So when you look at average lifespan of prehistoric peoples and compare that to the plaque in their system, it correlates. Again, misinformation spread by big ag industry funded studies. The largest populations on earth in poor and developing countries eat mostly if not all plant based diets.  The largest study ever done on nutrition was the China Study. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_China_Study">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_China_Study  The results overwhelmingly show that the diseases that are now plaguing the west are diet related, specifically meat and dairy. China until recent years only had a fraction of the case rates of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, etc. In the past few decades as they modernized their country and started eating more western diets those diseases are all on the rise. Likewise the Cleveland Clinic has a program where they are reversing heart disease with strict plant based diets. The reason it does not included meat and dairy is it would not work. There is no other large scale successful dietary means of reversing diabetes or heart disease.

I do agree with you about the subsidies going to sugar, corn syrup, etc. Those are just as much of the problem.
