Quote from: mowens post_id=6799 time=1613403983 user_id=74It was -8 this morning. My car started, barely. The wipers worked long enough to clear the snow off then quit even trying to work. The button panel for my garage door opener didn't work so I couldn't use the remote in my car. I had to use the one by the door leading into the kitchen.
As I write this I'm thinking of the lowest temperature ever recorded in Kansas. -40 was recorded, in 1905. I think what life must have been like in Northern Kansas in 1905 and realize what a little whiner I am.

My Hoopty a 2001 malibu actually had (option) a coolant heater that warmed and circulated the coolant prior to start up.
Better than a dipstick heater.

in 1905 i bet they just told the Boss they forgot to wind the alarm Clock.

Or the Rooster was sick.

Still snowing here for another hour or two. Guessing 8 inches. Lot of wind and drifting.  Doubt you can see roads where it drifts. Took a joy ride with wife earlier.  Much worse conditions now.

Just announced that our base is closed tomorrow.  Didn't really do much of anything IMHO.  Alabama + snow threat = EVERYTHING is CLOSED

Frozen Windpower

QuoteERCOT reports today the spot price for electricity in Texas is currently a stunning $9000 per MegaWatt-hour. Even in the high demand summer months, $100 per MW-hr would be high.

Pretty sporty drive in this morning. I'd guess we got almost a foot of snow, but the wind blew like hell out of the northeast all night so the drifts are pretty bad.

I can't get excited about plowing at 4AM so I busted down the driveway a couple times in my truck. Wife ain't going anywhere today so I commandeered her little Lexus SUV for the drive to work. Normally a half hour drive but today took an hour.

Well at least you got to work!
I think that same storm that dumped all that snow your way is headed our way.
We are expecting another 4-8 inches Wednesday night / Thursday morning here in PA.

Meh new snow blower is paying for itself already.  :w00t:  :_thumbup:

Our BIG Storm turned out to be a bust. Maybe three inches this morning. There is supposed to be another one coming our way Friday followed by a storm on Monday. We shall see.
