C'Mon guys! If any of us greasy machinists had a coupla brain cells left to rub together, we'd realize that @neurosis 's graph up here is just what we've been looking for! The secret to running 100% good parts isn't running good parts, it's just not looking for bad parts (or cancer, either)!

I think I know what studies he's talking (thinking, I don't know that he's referring to studies, just assuming)  about.  I'm not sure because he's always vague.

I'm always happy to look in to these things if given the chance.

....and more than anything else, I wish I felt that more of us were looking to understand the world as it is, and not trying to promote or advance a particular perspective! Conspiracy-mongering seems to be alive and well in the web-enabled (web-afflicted) world!

I didn't spend a lot of time in that covid thread. I've told you why. Every time I would go down one of the rabbit holes I would find out that the information was incorrect, misunderstood or just someone outright lying.

What I mean by vague, is you'll drop a bomb like "The rise in world wide cancer rates is astronomical." insinuating that it was related to the covid vax, but provide no proof to back that up.  Similar to someone saying that vaccinations caused the rise in autism diagnosis. 

I'll dig more in to this next week when/if I have more time. 

Just spending a few minutes reading through "The Ethical Skeptic" blog, I realize a few things right off the bat. Why is he anonymous?  lol.  Already I'm finding completely made up terms and a bunch of unnecessary rambling that appears to be more to confuse than to actually prove anything to anyone.  When you read through the testimonials, they look as though they were written by the same guy writing the blog.    IOW, it comes across, well, I'll just say that I'm skeptical of the skeptic.  It has that, to quote someone else, "use big words to hide weak ideas" vibe.

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for a few and read more of it during the week.

He presents himself as an International Man of Mystery with a resume impressive enough to risk identification, yet is anonymous.

He says he deliberately obfuscates his content to avoid low quality followers and dealing with non-intellectuals, yet many of his vocal followers seem to be poorly educated, non-intellectual anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers and other conspiracy enthusiasts or general public not academics. He dogwhistles the "pure blood" antivaxxers with vague tweets such as, "protect your blood".

His graphs and tweets often seem mutually incomprehensible, yet his followers constantly excuse this by saying "no one understands what he is saying, so that just proves he is truly a genius" and "he just forgets to label the graphs properly and makes lots of typos, geniuses are like that", etc.

It all comes across as pseudo-intellectual bluff by obfuscation and word salad. People fear to question it in case he really is a genius or they are dismissed as stupid.

It smells a lot like the Emperor's New Clothes. It seems rigged so those who suspect something will doubt themselves ("what am I missing that so many others can see?").

Clearly, he cannot truly believe his message is important if he can't be bothered to make it comprehensible to lay people.

He portrays himself as an expert on almost every topic he comments on but also denounces the majority of experts trained in those fields as frauds and idiots. Typical mindset for a grifter or a delusional, not a real expert or someone truly intelligent and intellectual (or at least honest).

So many alarm bells, yet I still catch myself thinking "I don't know enough about the data sets or good enough at math to be sure", yet the conclusions he feeds (anti-mitigation, anti-vax, conspiracy theories, alt-med, declarations the pandemic is over, etc) are so obviously wrong and at odds with reality his data analysis cannot possibly be real.

My wife has had Covid all this week for the 3rd time. Somehow I haven't come down with it. I attribute it to smoking weed and cigarettes and my lungs don't have the capacity to breathe in the virus.  😂
