I've never mocked Youtube. It's both the best and the worst of the internet. I've repaired appliances, cars, installed windows, did landscaping, learned fishing techniques, improved my golf swing, a lot of different things with information from Youtube videos. I also have a subscription for music.

It's also the worst because really stupid people think they should get their news there and are nowhere near smart enough to be able to tell the difference between bullshit and reality.

That's true, but they also mostly cite where the information came from so you can double check if you have the time to spend.

There have also been studies done to check the reliability/accuracy of it's content and it fairs pretty well. Sure, it can be vandalized but it's usually cleaned up pretty quick. 

Most of the time when you hear people criticizing wiki's credibility it's when they don't like what they're reading. I've seen people criticize it one day and then use it as a reference the next.

I found this article in the AP news about the video editing "scandal."

It sounds like a reasonable explanation.

Trump's complaints about '60 Minutes' put a spotlight on editing at the nation's top newsmagazine

In the above link there was a reference to Trump opponents complaining about the same thing happening with Trump. Editing the dialog for brevity and readability. They call it "Sanewashing." 

Sanewashing? The banality of crazy? A decade into the Trump era, media hasn't figured him out
