I found this article in the AP news about the video editing "scandal."

It sounds like a reasonable explanation.

In the above link there was a reference to Trump opponents complaining about the same thing happening with Trump. Editing the dialog for brevity and readability. They call it "Sanewashing."

The entire nation noticed it, and it was all over the place, then Trump used it.
But yeah, Trump complained about it.
