At the end of the day this is mostly political theater.

Thune has been hinting behind closed doors that he believes they have the votes to secure Pete's nomination, assuming he doesn't have some kind of meltdown, which ain't happening.

So the attention wh0res from the other party can prattle on all they like for the cameras.
It's an up or down vote by simple majority, so it should be a done deal.

Pete said that during WW2 there were 7 4 star Generals. Currently there are 44. I expect that number to drop dramatically.

The only confirmation hearings that I like to watch, is when Senator Kennedy is question potential judges.

But these things are mostly hard to watch. Republican and Democrats both, with their faux outrage, and over dramatic questioning, ughhh. It feels like a cheaply written daytime tv series

That's a lot of troops. I think we only have 3 million now. China has over 200 million and that was years ago.
