The only way Kamala could even spell "tarrifs" is if you engraved it on the bottom of her vodka bottle

Quote from: Del. on April 07, 2025, 10:25 AMEnlighten me with any Democratic strategy that would make things better.

There isn't one. I know that, you know that, and even the dumbsmits know that.
But they will never admit it, because that wouldn't be promoting the orangemanbad narrative.

It's not going to get fixed overnight.

We did not arrive at our current situation overnight. The problem will not be solved overnight.

Quote from: Del. on April 07, 2025, 10:30 AMHow strong of an economy could there have been if after 5 days after implementing tariffs the Michigan economy goes to hell?

Did you read the article or did you miss the point, again?

I pointed out a few weeks ago that our company here in Michigan, a tier 1 automotive parts supplier that gets components form many countries, had their orders cut by 20%. There are real world effects from that which are both highlighted in the article and felt in this factory town.

You're exactly right. We have a deficit that is almost impossible to get underneath.  The debt is incredible.

What do we have to sacrifice to solve this problem?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

According to chatgeeeepeeeeteeee, the interest on the US debt is 10%. And growing.
The banksters, won't want that reduced....

Nobody since Obama has made an attempt to reduce the deficit. Look at the deficit reduction over the years and who's been responsible.

Trump might do it this time? But at what cost and to who.

First off borrow no more money.

Second pay some principal on the current debt to lower the interest payment.

The stock market will jump like crazy if they did that.

A LOT more than people are willing.

We've been running up the credit card and folks, the bill is coming due and there is no bankruptcy option.

We are the students that ran up that loan debt and we're bitching that the bill is coming due.

You and I have some time to make up the difference.  There are some people retiring or are already retired that might disagree with us while they watch their life saving evaporate.

I'm sorry for them but near retirement age you should have your money in a safe investment.

Yea, I don't know.  Should they have been smarter than that?
