Sorry Matthew, that sounded dismissive.  It's great to go out on your own and the best place to start is as a sidleline in the garage, but the cosy situation you describe will almost certainly not last if you get any momentum.

I've been working 4 day work weeks for the last two years. I wanted to program from home on day 5 but management just wouldn't go for it. So I said 32 or zero and they went for it.

No offense taken.  I've already been having my wife help me out at work, swapping parts, doing paperwork.  Sometimes have the kids in, scribbling all over the whiteboards.  We've got a part time nanny, and a full time nanny on the way.

Just delivered our biggest order yet, now to do the invoice!

Went from 4 10's, 2 at home, 2 at the facility.
Now, I'm 5 to 14 days on the road. Working nights in my hotel room is normal, as is doing an admin cleanup and expenses on weekends. Generally flying 2-4 times per week. I was home this week, with company holidays Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
I like now better.
