I'm going to have to go watch a youtube vid of the new planes now.... planes historically was THEE hardest thing for people to wrap their heads around.
Yes viewsheets massively simplified it by allowing the easy tabs, and creating a master template with them further helped.

I always found the "-1" value for Automatic offset for a plane amusing. Made great sense if you were a developer. Looked like a bug if you were anyone else

ASSuming I WANT more than 1 work offset (-1) as opposed to the more logical "if I want it, I'll put it in" is such a massive shit sandwich.

In my CAMplete NC Formats I get a G10 line at the top of the program to indicate the presence of more than one work offset. It's a lifesaver. When I set up customers workstations, they usually like it when I set up their stations to default to a specific work offset.

I ran Gunther's X+ with the 1x click to output all operations with this (as well as coolant selection, THD, etc).
Just....in....case.... saves the potential BuBuBuBOOM!!!!

I do the same using active reports. I output all fixture offsets for every operation, just in case something sneaks through.

The teams did a good job with the quite complex planes/levels remake in 2026, and there will be more longstanding albatrosses to fall next year. Looking forward to being able to talk about some of the future soon.

More undocumented features (bugs) on the horizon!!!

Nope, still on 2022 here, not sure why we pay maintenance.
I played with the 1st beta for a bit, liked the new levels mgr.

I've been using it since the initial technology preview.

So far, I'm only using it on one off files and things I know another programmer won't be messing with.

One this I learned is that enhancement requests take a loooooong time to get implemented, if ever.

When a new release reached TP and Beta, it is set and changes and enhancement request are NOT happening.

TP and Beta are bug hunts, nothing else.
 
Critical bugs or show stoppers get fixed.
Minor bugs and enhancement requests get pushed out to updates and future releases.

They do.. I personally delayed an initial public release 3 weeks once when I reported a bug a few days
before the big rollout.

The catch is.... what you or I consider a showstopper and what CNC considers a showstopper are two entirely different things.

I remember the X6 days when the retract bug in the optirough toolpath wouldn't retract and ploughed through the part - @neurosis provided a repeatable file and it eventually got pulled....that was quite a showstopper!

TBF - I struggle like hell to remember birthdays, but formulae and things like this - stuff to have done my job or stopped me from doing it in this case (I skipped 6 and jumped into 7 with its etch-a-sketch new verify ) i do remember....
