Is there any chance that we could move this thread to the Industrial forum?  I'll leave it up to the thread starter, but I think that some of the info in here would be good for visitors of the forum and this area is hidden unless you're a forum member.

Speaking from experience, things can cascade in very "Interesting" ways when left unattended. Sometimes a "fix" will introduce more issues down the road that you don't find untill 100 or so parts. Fun stuff!

If I used the robot to grab a lighter and then light everything on fire, is this still covered under insurance?

I don't mind.
I just know myself, I visit off topic 10 times a day but industrial maybe once a month.
I just wanted it to be seen.

Better to leave insurance out of this.
The machine has paid for a new garage already anyways.

I've had to tell several customers over the years "you're not ready for automation." One was really taken aback.

As I walked through their shop several machine operators were actively tending machines that were running production jobs. I told them what I noticed and went down the list of when multi-pallet succeed best and things that will hinder them from meeting expectations. We forged a customer for life that day.

If you can't walk away from programs for the duration of the cycle, you may not be ready.

Within 8 months, they were ready. We spent time with their programmers and setup team to help them elevate their skills. They now have a multi-pallet HMC for their high production work and two multi-pallet 5-Axis machines for their high-mix low volume work. They'll be getting one more 5-Axis at the end of the year if they get two parts in a package of 10 they bid on.
