Quote from: Tim Johnson on November 10, 2022, 08:17 AMChanging hand written names with the same style of handwriting is something that it cannot do.

Why not? The program could easily be made to change votes from one candidate to another regardless it the vote was a bubble position or written text. Also the algorithms that analyze the written text could be heavily skewed towards one candidate. IE, for any writing that doesn't fit a certain criteria for absolute identification, then you look for features of letters, patterns, etc, and skew a weight or probability towards a candidate.

The answer is ballot images, times, locations, districts, etc added to a secure blockchain every time a ballot is scanned. Essentially each scanning machine is it's own blockchain data mining rig. Each ballot scanned adds to that states blockchain for that election cycle. It could easily be done at a few central locations. Add to that open registration databases with ballot requests and it makes it pretty hard for large scale fraud. If the number of ballots scanned for a district exceed the requests you investigate and possibly redo that district vote. Likewise voter integrity groups can cross reference the ballots requests to registrations and canvassing to verify. While this would not stop all fraud, it would make it extremely difficult to inject tens of thousands of votes.

Quote from: Smit on November 10, 2022, 07:43 AMIt's too bad they left that trail through the primaries where they were pushing all the crazy stuff their base liked.

You can't unsay those things. People are aware.

The majority of moderate Americans are tired of crazy. It's not hard to understand.
and yet, AOC gets re-elected.

Quote from: neurosis on November 10, 2022, 07:56 AMI think that was his point with the open source software. Open Source software is easily audited.

Speaking of audited, I'm surprised that any software used by the government isn't somehow audited?

it probably is....by the same 52 intelligence people who said that the laptop was russian disinformation.

So does Marjorie Taylor Greene.  AOC may be dumb, but MTG is just flat nuts.  I hope that isn't the best the Republican party has to offer moving forward.  MTG and Hershel Walker.     You almost give Boebert a pass because she'd crazy and hot.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Quote from: TylerBeer on November 10, 2022, 08:32 AMIt would still have to read in the hand written name wouldn't it? That's not any more secure than a filled in dot, just more complicated and prone to potentially a spelling mistake, causing a spoiled ballet*

*that's a spelling joke there for those of you following at home
The names are on the ballot so misspelling means you're not paying attention. When you're at the voting booth you might want to keep your phone in your pocket. Handwriting reading software already exists but if the ballot machine can't read the name or you misspelled the name the ballot machine would shoot the ballot back out. I've had a ballot kicked out because of a small area on a circle wasn't colored in.

I don't expect it to last...time will tell

Still better than dropping from where it was.

indeed. I DO like the sound of the inflation report, and the general 'feeling' looking at prices and through work is that price increases have slowed
