Broken shit they "fixed" by making it worse.

It seems that it was reported back in March.
Well that just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that it might be fixed in 2027.

It blows my fucking mind that when they make a change, they never stop and think to check to see if it still functions before pushing it thru.
How many of us here would still have a job if we never checked our work before sending it to inspection and had to put it back in the machine to fix it?

I think that particular issue was a response to people bitching about the file path always changing.
The fix, we'll just lock it down.
I was shocked when MC2026 was released with this issue still broken.
I reported it and got an R# in March, though I really have no idea what an R# actually means.
I made a real effort to beta test for 2026 and got 4 R#'s.
Not one of them has been addressed.
If you want a real defect, go into the Tool Manager and build a tap from scratch.  :o

I've been bitching about the Machine Group Setup since the day it was implemented years ago.
It's still a clusterfuck. But look how pretty it is!
I haven't tried building a tap from scratch yet in 2026 and I hope I never have to, that process has always been a P.I.T.A.

Fixed it for you @Jeff.

I enjoy reading y'all's "problems".  I miss machining.  Closest I get is maybe a DeWalt drill  ;D
If this gig goes sideways, I'll be back asking for help  :D

It happens with every release.

I'm like Dalton on Roadhouse... I'll be nice until it's time to not be nice. And that time has come.

And the reality.... they'll listen and that'll be about it.

Sure the issues driving you mad will eventually be addressed. They'll keep rolling out version after version.

Maintenance customers are nice,  they're mostly a recurring cash flow but new seats are the driver.

After all that,  we're timing out.
The old guard will be .mostly retired in the next 10 years or so.  They're not driving the product for us any more. The drivers are younger and a crowd that just wants to point and click....factor in the coming of AI and were all expendable as customers.

Just the reality of our time

They haven't driven the product for me since multi-threading was introduced.

My 1st request for it BTW was V6.13a. ~1997 IIRC.

I had a dual Pentium Pro 200 MHz with 8MB RAM and a Matrox Video Card, 4 SCSI HDD's running a RAID configuration and Windows NT 4.0

I did not get my request for 11 years IIRC.

Maybe thats the play. Make the software just shitty enough that humans hate to use it. But good enough that the only way to get stuff done is to relent and use the Integrated AI assistant...

Factories full of nobody making products for no one. We are so cooked chat.

Some day, someone will write a blog post about the parallels of the downfall of Mastercam CAD/CAM software and the western world. It will be about a 7 minute read.
