That's a good question and I doubt it's possible to get a straight answer as the environment is still evolving.

Back in V8/V9 days, the 3D module included early days 5X toolpaths.
I didn't use them and had never worked anywhere that had a 5X machine.
When Mastercam went to a maintenance model, the 5X toolpaths were grandfathered in at no additional cost.
Looking back, that was a very good deal.

Now it's seems everything in being broken out into separate modules with separate charges. Subscriptions will be
king.

Going forward, there will be subscriptions for everything.
My employer has over a dozen Postability posts and 5 machine sims... and they used to provide codes for my personal sim as a courtesy.
When we hired a contract program Postability would give us a timed license for the post required.
When Postability got assimilated all that went away. If I need a license for one of my employer's machine sims today
on my personal sim, I have to buy it.
I recently enquired as to how we could provide a contract programmer a temporary post and machine sim license.
The answer was we'd have to buy a subscription to add our post/machine sim to his Mastercam license.

Back when I was more into riding motorcycles Honda or Yamaha or whoever would go to a new model yearly. The only "new feature" would be what the called "BNG"....Bold New Graphics

I suspect on Dec 3 we will see that.

Back on 2026...anyone else notice how fucked up the 5 axis drilling is? Particularly when opening an earlier version file? Half the time vectors will be reversed. I have a file that has 336 holes, on about 38 different orientations. I used to be able to windows select the geometry and I was done. All 2026 does is hang. I had to make 38 different planes and 38 different operations to "update" this file. Yes it has been submitted, crickets has been the response.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to call the levels manager a hunk of shit in the submission report.

That's pretty much the normal now.

F*ck 'em, call a spade a spade, I'm pretty sure that's why they mostly ignore me.

I dunno, I've been very critical and outspoken on the official forums the last couple of years and whenever I submit something to QC, they're still pretty responsive to me.

That's not saying they rush to fix the "bugs" and "changes" that I've been complaining about for years, most of those are still yet to be addressed.

Worked with the CAMplete guys and got 5-Axis Drilling to post out of CAMplete successfully. :D

When I go up there for the software update I'll show you what you need to add and where.

It needs to work in Mastercam before Camplete.
I haven't had any issues with earlier versions and Camplete outputting what I need....maybe I am missing something...

Maybe you got the code in the drilling start sections before I did. :D

From time to time I am late to the party.

Remember the outrage about New Coke that forced the return of "Classic" Coke?  Was that all just a marketing ploy for free press or did they think they really made it better before they foisted it upon the world?

The recipe's definitely been changing the last few years.  But is it actually a better product? >:(

I hear talk of this new Mastercam "EverPath" and can't stop my brain from pondering what it could possibly be....

Then it hit me! Brilliant! Its a new toolpathing technology that instead of you buying a license to use the software, or a subscription to use the software, we just charge you on a per toolpath, per regen basis. (We charge you "Ever-y-Path"!) Possibly we can tie it into some sort of cryptocurrency that i can gamble with. Then there can be a market for regen tokens and instead of programming parts to make money I can speculate on the price of programming parts. This is so freaking genius it crazy. I'm going in bigtime on MasterCamRegenTolkiens!

What is EverPath?

QuoteEverPath is a brand-new 3-thru-5 axis toolpath suite currently in Technical Preview. I'd encourage anyone interested to reach out through the Contact Us link on Mastercam to get set up to be involved in the preview period (covers both Mastercam yearly technical preview and EverPath.)

We're not talking much about EverPath publicly yet as we'd like the opportunity to react very widely both in technology and UI based on this early feedback from users.

If anyone has emailed or reached out about Beta access and is stalled waiting for a response from either your channel partner or Mastercam, please shoot me a message so I can help resolve it. I want your feedback and I want to get you involved.

They are actively recruiting more testers for this effort, begging even

I've been a beta tester since 1998 and I have to say I've never seen a more all hands on deck effort from any software
company in my 30 years in the trade.

They have set themselves a very tight and aggressive development schedule if they plan on sticking to their historical
release timeline of May/June 2026.

One down side to this is that it is using resources that might be better spent on MC2026 Update 2

Without divulging anything...

I am most certainly not impressed

If it's not ready, they'll still push it out, nothing is stopping them from releasing a version that doesn't work for shit. 2026 is proof of that.
So was 2024.
That's at least 2 versions that I've completely skipped because they were a dumpster fire.
