That was my request in the X5 days....

Any chance drag and drop re-order are part of the "new"? Been asking for that since V8 or V9 (that's pre-X for you young 'uns) :P

WOW its 2025 and Mastercam is getting the ability to have groups in the level and plane manager!

WOW YAY! Such cutting edge software development!

I'll be happy to finally be able to re-organize the planes in the plane manager.  :cheer:

Planes and Levels now include Groups and other new features
Most of these changes have been requested by users for years
Both are completely new and will come with a learning curve.
I think power users will love them.

I must say... the on off toggle icon looks like a wifi signal to me.

Yes, they are  :)

My personal big ones, besides Planes/Levels manager:
  • Solid Hole has been redesigned from scratch. Threaded holes now exist in Mastercam! Industry standard libraries are provided for hole type/thread size, with clearance classes/etc for all hole types (Simple, counterbore, etc)
  • Critical Depths capability has trickled into Optirough
  • Verify Selection has been revamped and now exists as a right-click option in the graphics area, allowing you to select overlapping elements in the moment.
  • Grouping exists in Workholding in Machine Group Setup, so you can create groups of Op1/Op2/OpX fixtures and turn them on and off for simulation all at once with a single click within the panel.

I must be a boring guy, because this kind of thing excites me- things like divorcing the hole metadata from the physical modeled result, so you can finally have a hole modeled at tap drill/minor dia/etc size but still identified as a 1/4-20 in the background. This is a really important step in automating toolpathing in the future!

What???

There's no triple aught - 120?

:P

Maybe someday Mastercam will add some real CAD functionality. For us any way, we've pushed off all tooling and fixture design in Solidworks

It is good to see things that have long been asked for and actively being added

Mapping Solidworks hole metadata directly into Mastercam hole types is in our sights as well. All that intelligence just dropped off at the point where the two softwares interface is a hole (unintended pun) in the process. It could be stated as, the full manufacturing definition of a part should not exist solely in the toolpaths applied to it. How can we close that loop and push manufacturing data upstream?

Also, the hole libraries are XML's in individual files locally. You're free to curate libraries to restrict hole types to only what your shop uses, or add hole types or even standards/libraries that we don't include. The team had to choose a reasonable line to draw in order to not include pan screws from the 1800s, etc etc...you can probably blame me if it doesn't exist in there.

What? Don't tell me you've excluded British Association and British Standard Cycle threads etc?
Tut Tut. How shocking!

After seeing a demo of Cam Assist....having a hole properly identified in the model is the only way to get it to work. I can see it is the future.

We saw hints of this when MBD (Model Based Definition) was coming on board.

I've been toying with non-ITAR and or it's BITD equivalent parts I programmed in the early 2000's in ToolPath (Fusion360's answer
to CAM Assist) and hole definition has proven to be crutial in the process. Holes have proven to be quite challenging for a lot of the parts.

Hole definition in TopSolid is crucial for its automation. The hole definition itself in TopSolid is very good and they have been doing it for years.
