We're all just armchair quarterbacks. Or do we have some experts in here that I'm not aware of?

Resigning was a good decision. Solid record or not, her mistake cost someone their life. If she can't tell the difference between a handgun and a taser then she has no business with either of them in her hand. This was hardly a "combat situation" and her mistake was absolutely inexcusable.

I usually give the benefit of the doubt to LEO's and I'm not one of the "de-fund the police" wacko's but I have a hard time giving a free pass on this one.

It's probably going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

You can feel the resentment coming from law enforcement in the Seattle area. On the other side of the coin, the push for tearing the whole system down is becoming more and more common.

I'm going to retire to Idaho or Montana and hope that's far enough away to be dead before it makes it way that far East.

Quote from: neurosis post_id=9519 time=1618343670 user_id=49I'd have to agree with this.

It's unbelievable that someone with 20+ years of experience would do something this stupid. She has no business with a firearm in her hands. This was either a horrible lack of training or she just isn't cut out for that job.

I can see how it would happen.  In the heat of stress you do what you've practiced most, and they practice drawing their pistols far more often than their tasers.  They both handle pretty much the same.  I don't place much blame on that officer.  I think it's a problem that could be helped with changes to training and equipment.

Over your last 25 years of machining have you never grabbed the wrong tool?  I sometimes grab my pocket knife when I mean to grab my leatherman, flick it open, and then realize I have the wrong one.  Or grab the wrong ER collet wrench.  Never grabbed a spoon when you needed a fork?

I don't buy in to the machinist vs law enforcement officer grabbing the wrong tool analogy. It probably happens to porn stars too. Hopefully nobody dies when it happens.

I can see how it can happen too. That doesn't mean that she gets a free pass.  She obviously fucked up and knew it as soon as she fired the shot.  If you read what I said - "This was either a horrible lack of training or she just isn't cut out for that job." I'm not sure if we are agreeing there?

Out of curiosity, who do you put the blame on for this "accident"?

Could've given the guy a ticket and moved on.

Mistaking your gun for a taser is fucking stupid. Glad to hear she resigned. Maybe at her next job if she mistakes a burger for double burger a kid won't die.

He was cuffed because he had outstanding warrants for failure to show up to court for having a gun and waiving it about 2 years ago dumbass

Can I quote the "I didn't watch the  video" defense from another thread?
Still didn't "warrant" a shooting

Does the collet wrench have a fitted holster and a safety?

He was cuffed for having a warrant. The expired tags were what got him pulled over. Maybe you should get facts before spewing your bullshit.

No shit   He just makes facts up.

Nah i omitted something that I hadn't heard yet. Like when you "omit" that you worked 8 hours today

I see the Monday morning Quarterbacks that have never even so much as gone on a ride along are out in force today. That's encouraging. I was beginning to think they were going to actually wait to make a judgement. Thank goodness that'll never happen.

No it's not. It's also not a racial murder because he was black.
